Una carta de despedida en inglés es el momento indicado para decir adiós a cualquiera que desees. De forma general, la carta de despedida se escribe a  familiares, colegas o compañeros de trabajo.

Una carta de despedida no es simplemente solo una forma de transmitir a otros la disposición que has tomado para un trabajo o el nuevo giro que pretendes llevar en tu vida, de igual forma te brinda la gran oportunidad de transferir sentimientos a todos lo que le te encuentras diciéndole adiós.

¿Cuál es la organización de una carta de despedida?

Para dar un toque de distinción a las cartas de despedida, se puede utilizar la siguiente estructura:

  1. Personalization: it is where the name of the recipient is reflected, that is, to whom the letter is addressed (person or company). This is preceded by a greeting, such as dear, dear, respected company xxxx, among others.
  2. Development: this section expresses all the feelings towards the person or persons to whom you are saying goodbye.
  3. Closing: they are phrases that are added to culminate the message itself of the letter, and are followed by the name of the issuer. Like for example, with love xxxx, with appreciation xxxx, sincerely xxxx.

2. Send it on the last business day / Enviala el ultimo día hábil.

A goodbye letter must be sent on the last business day after you finish all your tasks. This is very important because your colleagues will have enough time to say goodbye and it will also give you a chance to chat with them.

1.   Agradecimiento.

In your letter, you should appreciate and thank all your colleagues for their help and support. You should thank them for their love, support, care, kindness, and help during your relationship with them. This will help show them that every moment you spent together was meaningful.

2. Prayers and wishes / Oraciones y deseos.

Elementos de una carta de despedida en inglés formal.

A continuación te enumeraremos y describiremos las 5 partes principales de esta carta:

1. The course / El rumbo.

Within the elements of a formal letter, is the direction. What does this mean? This includes the address, line by line, with the last line being the date. Skips one line after the header. The header is indented to the middle of the page. If you are using pre-addressed stationery, add only the date.

2. The greeting / El saludo.

The salutation always ends with a comma. The greeting can be formal, beginning with the word "dear" and using the person's name or relationship, or it can be informal if appropriate. For example:

Formal: Dear Uncle Jim, Dear Mr. Wilkins, Informal: Hi Joe, Greetings,

(Occasionally very personal greetings may end with an exclamation point for emphasis.)

3. The body / El cuerpo de la carta.

Within the elements of a formal letter is known as the main text. This includes the message you want to write. Normally in a friendly letter, the beginning of the paragraphs are indented. If it's not indented, make sure you omit a space between paragraphs. Skip a line after the greeting and before the closing.

4. The free closure / El cierre libre.

This short expression is always a few words on a single line. It ends in a comma. It should be indented to the same column as the header. Omit one or three spaces (two is common) for the signature line.

5. The signature line / La línea de la firma.

Write or sign your name. The handwritten signature goes above this line and below the clasp. The signature line and handwritten signature are indented in the same column as the closing. The signature must be written in blue or black ink. If the letter is fairly informal, you can omit the signature line whenever you sign it.

Postscript / postdata.

In the elements of a formal letter it can also contain a postscript, it can start with PS and end with your initials. Skip a line after the signature line to begin the postscript.
